Fiuhh... Akhirnya midterm exam selesai juga!!! Untuk memanjakan lidah gua sejenak akhirnya gua pergi ke pasar malem Ruifeng, Kaohsiung. Ruifeng ini merupakan salah satu pasar malam yang terkenal di Kaohsiung loh! Kalo ada rombongan tour, pasti dateng ke Rueifeng! Kebanyakan yang dateng ke sini itu rombongan tur dari Mainland China (中國大陸)! Yes, pasar malem di Taiwan itu terkenal dengan banyak makanan cemilan-cemilan maupun makanan berat!
Yeah! This is the end of my midterm exam!! To celebrate the end of exam, I decided to go to Ruifeng Night Market, Kaohsung. You know what? This night market is the most famous night market in Kaohsiung! This can be must visit tourist attraction for tourist who come to Kaohsiung. Most of the tourist come from Mainland China. Yes, Taiwan night market was known for many snacks and heavy meals!

Disana gua beli 2 makanan khas Taiwan namanya "Tahu Bau" sama "Bola Ubi". Kenapa namanya tahu bau? ya karena emang tahunya bau. Tahu bau itu tahu yang difermentasikan lebih lanjut jadi baunya busuk. Penyajiannya macem-macem, bisa digoreng, dikukus, direbus atau dipanggang. Yang unik, setelah digoreng, direbus, dikukus atau dipanggang, tahu ini tidak berbau busuk lagi dan dapat menjadi sebuah makanan yang enak banget!
Here! I decided to buy two Taiwan famous snack called "Stinky Tofu" and "Sweet Potato Ball". Why the name was stinky tofu? Yeah, because of its smell! Stinky Tofu is a form of fermented tofu that has a strong odor. Preparation of this tofu can be various like deep-fried stinky tofu, steamed stinky tofu, boiled stinky tofu or baked stinky tofu. The unique of this tofu is once the tofu was fried, boiled, steamed or baked the stinky smell can disappeared and its become a really tasty food!
Akhirnya gua memutuskan untuk makan tahu bau ini di sebuah kedai yang namanya "shi ji chou tou fu" dalam bahasa mandarinnya “石記臭豆腐”. Gua memilih kedai ini dibandingkan dengan kedai tahu bau yang lain karena tahu bau yang dijual kedai ini cocok untuk lidah orang asing seperti gua (yang sudah mulai menjadi orang Taiwan) karena tahu bau yang sebenernya itu rasanya agak pait-pait getir di lidah jadi
Finally, I decided to eat this fried stinky tofu at one's vendor called "Shi Ji Chou Dou Fu" in Chinese it called “石記臭豆腐” I choose this vendor because they stinky tofu is suitable for foreigners like me! The real stinky tofu tasted a bit bitter on the tongue and it have permanent bitter like about 1 hour so maybe I thought it is not really suitable for foreigners.

Cara penyajian tahu bau goreng berbeda dengan tahu bau bakar, rebus ataupun kukus. Tahu bau goreng ini biasanya disajikan dengan irisan Timun Jepang dan Taiwan Kimchi lalu disiram dengan kuah semacam soyu yang rasanya agak asin dan manis diatasnya atau kuah ini bisa ditaruh dulu sebelum menaruh tahu, timun dan kimchi. Berbeda dengan kimchi yang ada di Korea, Taiwan Kimchi ini rasanya asam dan manis jadi ngak pedes sama sekali dan warnanya juga putih loh! Pokoknya beda deh sama Kimchi di Korea!
Fried Stinky Tofu served differently than baked, steamed or boiled one. Usually, Fried Stinky Tofu served with Japanese Cucumber Slice and Taiwanese Kimchi and then doused with like soy sauce but the taste of the sauce is little bit salty and sweet. Different with Korean Kimchi, Taiwanese Kimchi taste sweet and sour not spicy at all and the colour is white not red! Really different from Korean Kimchi!

If you want to try this stinky tofu, you have to take NTD 40 for the small portion and NTD 55 for the big one from your pocket. One more!! Beside the fried stinky tofu, this vendor also sell tofu's skin and it has same price with the fried stinky tofu. For those who want to try both, you can buy the combination portion for NTD 60. For your information USD 1 = NTD 31 .

Setelah memanjakan lidah dengan tahu bau, akhirnya gua memutuskan untuk beli satu lagi makanan khas Taiwan yaitu "Bola Ubi" atau yang biasa kita bilang “QQ地瓜球” . Bola ubi ini tampilan luarnya sama dengan Bola Ubi Madu yang ada di Gardu Jati, Bandung. Cuman bedanya adalah Bola Ubinya Taiwan itu lebih kecil dan lebih padet. Untuk soal rasa, Bola Ubi ini pas banget rasanya karena ngak terlalu manis kayak yang ada di Bandung. Untuk gua yang ngak begitu suka manis, rasanya pas deh!!!
After I tasted the fried stinky tofu, I decided to buy one more famous Taiwan Snack called "Sweet Potato Ball" or in Chinese we called “QQ地瓜球” . The appearance of this sweet potato ball in Taiwan as same as the Honey Sweet Potato Ball in Gardu Jati, Banding, Indonesia. The difference between these two sweet potato ball is Taiwan's sweet potato ball not as sweet as Indonesia's sweet potato ball. For those who doesn't like too much sweet in your mouth you should try this!
